Twelve celebrities, 72 signature pieces, one question: what do the most copied wardrobes actually share? The answer is a capsule you can build in a season.

RunwayTwin's celebrity style guides list six signature pieces for each of 12 people: Hailey Bieber, Sofia Richie, Kendall Jenner, Bella Hadid, Zendaya, Rihanna, Dua Lipa, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Jennifer Lawrence and Blake Lively. That's 72 pieces. We grouped them by type and counted.

The coat is the uniform
Seven of twelve icons depend on a long coat, more than any other piece. It's the most photographed garment in off-duty fashion because it's what people wear between the car and the door. It is also, usefully, the piece the high street copies best: in RunwayTwin's Dupe Index data, outerwear has the smallest gap between original and cheap version.
How to build it
- Start with the coat: long, single colour, a size up if you want the off-duty-model shape.
- Add the base layers: two fitted tees or tanks and one fine knit.
- Two bottoms: relaxed jeans and wide-leg tailored trousers.
- One slip piece, dress or skirt, for evenings.
- Shoes in three registers: a pointed shoe, ballet flats, knee-high boots.
- Finish with a structured bag, sunglasses and a leather jacket when the budget allows.
Those twelve pieces cover the core of at least eight of the twelve wardrobes we looked at. What makes each icon recognisable is the one or two pieces outside the capsule: Sabrina's babydoll dresses, Blake's florals, Dua's corsets. Buy the capsule once; buy the signature piece of whoever you're channelling this season.
